Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine where thin needles are inserted into the body at strategic points to activate the body’s Qi to naturally help the body to heal. The practice of acupuncture originated thousands of years ago. It is based on the premise that a blockage or disturbance in the body’s flow of Qi can cause health issues. Acupuncture points are situated in all areas of the body. Sometimes the appropriate points are far removed from the area of the body that one is seeking acupuncture for. That is because acupuncture works to balance the meridians in the physical body. Thin needles are inserted to restore the flow of Qi, balance the body’s energy, stimulate healing and promote relaxation. There are over 1000 acupuncture points on the body that reside in energy channels known as meridians, and each meridian is associated with the different organ systems within the human body.
Issues treated with Acupuncture include but are not limited to:
- Chronic Pain (such as headaches, back pain, neck pain)
- Sinus congestion
- Stress and anxiety
